On Sunday, March 13, 2016, the staff and board members of Alrowwad, community leaders and representatives of Bethlehem Governorate and municipalities gathered to celebrate the 18th anniversary of Alrowwad for Culture and Arts. Alrowwad proudly presented a day of choir music, theatre shows, and songs as well as Dabka dance. Dr. Abdelfattah Abusrour, the Founder and General Director of Alrowwad welcomed the guests and affirmed the beautiful and long lasting change among Palestinians that Alrowwad has seek for 18 years through various cultural and artistic events that go along with the Palestinian culture. Dr. Abed called for the right to live for Palestine and the right of resistance against the violence and ugliness of occupation to emphasize the Palestinian heritage that one can be proud to leave to generations to come reflecting the true image of Palestinians live under the occupation. Dr. Luay Zaool the Public Relations officer in Bethlehem Municipality praised Alrowwad and its staff for encouraging the Palestinian culture and art and support all initiatives to continue that success.
Alrowwad troupes performed different pieces including Dabka dance, music, children’s dance performance, and the new sarcastic piece, “We are not Like That.” The play, written and directed by Issa Abusror, uncovered the pervasive problems in the government, including political corruption and the exploitation of personal interest.
Alrowwad has also honored the best cleaning man in the areas of Bethlehem, Beit Jala, Beit Sahour, and the refugee camps of Dheishe, Aida and Bayt Jibrin to foster a greater understanding of their roles and values amongst people.
